Course 1: Overview Formations Tempo Personnel

Coach Mathieson coaches in the challenging Greater Saint Helens League in Washington State.

  • The GSHL annually produces some of the top programs in the State of Washington.
  • In order to compete with many of the elite programs locally and in the state, Mathieson had to devise an offensive system that could combat an increasingly challenging schedule.

His program has had only 2 Division I football players  in 12 years, but his competition can average three or more  D-1 players PER SEASON!!!

Course 3: RPO Off Buck & Trap

RPO to Mult-WR and Single WR sides

Pre-Snap reads to decide whether to throw it or run BUCK SWEEP / GUARD TRAP

  • Covered / Uncovered
  • Clean or Dirty Alley
  • Free, Limited, or Zero Access

Course 4: RPO Off Power

This includes traditional Wing-T Counter with FB kickout and backside Guard pulling & wrapping up off-tackle

Also includes POWER READ out of Shotgun where the QB reads the End instead of a FB kicking him out.

Course 5: Weakside Run Game

This Course covers the basic components of the weakside run game, including traditional BELLY, COUNTER TREY and SPEED OPTION plays

  • Belly blocking patterns do not change regardless of being under center or in the Gun
Shotgun Belly has the QB running the ball to a Twins or Trips side, which removes the OLB

There is still the Pre-Snap Screen read out of Gun

Course 6: Play Action Pass

What happens when you create a system that is rooted in time tested West Coast Passing concepts, while combining modern Spread / RPO principles and traditional Wing-T Gap blocking patterns?

Course 7: Hot Screens & Shovel

Coach Mathieson tells us what his QB wasn’t doing that made him use more hot/now screens to gain some significant yardage and run the offense at full capacity. Coach will also show us some helpful foot work for the receivers and the QB, depending on whether you are throwing to your throwing arm side or away from your throwing arm side of the formation.

Course 8: Quick, Tunnel, Directional Screens

Coach Mathieson shows how he runs WR QUICK Screen off of the Buck Sweep and Power run plays!

Then he shows his MIDDLE SCREEN, or Tunnel Screen, INCLUDING how to make it a dual read play!

He wraps it up with his HB DIRECTIONAL SCREEN, INCLUDING how to make it a dual read play as well!

Course 9: Quick Passing Game

This video series focuses on the quick passing game.  The Quick Game Series is our basic short passing game combining short drops by the QB with quick routes by the WR.  Routes are based on timing.  The Quick Game Series can keep the H Back involved in protection and or release him into the route scheme.  Coach Mathieson uses a traditional progression read in operating his quick game in order to accelerate the decision making process of the QB as he works from one read to the second and so on.  Coach covers the basic principles of the quick game as well as player(s) tags in order to maximize its effectivenss on game night.

Course 10: Stick & Snag Concepts

Quick Passing Game

Course 10: Stick & Snag Concepts

The Intermediate Passing Series is our deeper passing game combining deeper drops by the QB with deeper routes by the WR.  Routes are designed to hit for medium to long gains.

Adding these FOUR concepts to the system improved the passing game from 1500 to over 3000 yards per season

Coach Mathieson’s simple terminology allows you to run this out of many different formations (1 or 2 back, 2×2, Trips, Tight End sets, or Empty)

His examples are Buck & Power, but you could run these screens off any of the Wing T running plays
