Teaching cornerback technique is one of those things that can make or break your secondary.
We often think of a cornerback’s technique as coming straight from the genetics his mom and dad gave him, but we underestimate the ability we have as coaches to teach great technique.
In this post, I talked about Coach Donnelly’s Jam technique he uses with his press corners.
And today, I’m going to share with you the shadow technique that he uses.
This is the less aggressive complement of the jam technique.
But, that doesn’t mean you tell your players it’s less aggressive.
This technique is another way to play press and scare offenses away from quick routes, while still playing with an appropriate caution.
