Team Defense
Have you ever been concerned with one player on the other team? People or other coaches tell you how great that person is. How are you going to stop him?
Of all the years that i have played or coached, I have always been told that one person can’t beat a team who plays together and plays to what they have been taught.
HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT AIN’T WORKING HARD
Lets be real, you can’t just show up and think you are going to win with a good pep talk. It takes practice, technique and most of all a TEAM effort from the defensive side of the ball.
What is a TEAM effort that would suffice to keep in check the best player?
You will need to have 11 players playing their position every play, great technique, confidence,
and above all Energy away from the ball. No matter what happens all players must finish at the ball.
11 HELMETS, ONE POOR SOUL
Take the proper angles to get from point A to point B. Breakdown around the ball and gang tackle. Everything you do in practice must emphasize this. It has to be in every tackling drill, do team pursuit drill every day, and make sure that their is a “double whistle” on every play…even the scout defense.
